Working Load Limits (WLL)

Grade 100 chains and accessory have 25% more carrying capacity than grade 80. This makes the use of smaller diameters possible. However, up to 16 mm diameter, grade 100 can replace grade 80 only in some areas. For better understanding, please refer to the table above. It contains a comparison of the carrying capacities of grade 80 and grade 100 for the most common sling chains (1 – 4-strand with different spread angles). For example, if for a single-strand sling chain the load to be lifted is 2,400 kg, a 10 mm chain of grade 80 or an 8 mm chain of grade 100 can be used. The weights of a 1-meter length of chain are listed in the table on the next page; in this case 4.32 kg of grade 80 and 2.73 kg of grade 100. The weight saving is approximately 37%. Weight data can differ slightly due to permitted dimensional tolerances.

On the other hand, if you want to lift 2,800 kg with a single-strand gear, a 10 mm chain sling must be used for both quality class 8 and grade 10. In that case, grade 10 is not of advantage.

Hence, you can quickly find from both tables which is the better quality class.

Grade 100 chains and accessory are RAL 5002 coated – steel blue.
